Cult meets Art at Madrid Fashion Week
Madrid, September 2009. People, who would like to breathe the air of international fashion, did not need to go to Milan or New York. Between 18th and 22nd September, the world of fashion looked to Madrid, where the 50th Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week took place. The collaboration of Jockey and the Spanish designer Carlos Díez Díez was one of the highlights: in an exclusive show, products of the Retro-Collection ‘JOCKEY by Cooper’s’, which had been interpreted by Carlos Díez Díez, were presented.
JOCKEY and Díez Díez: It really can be said that in this case art and cult complement one another in a perfect way. To observe this for themselves were the 1000 guests, amongst them the upcoming Spanish designer David Delfin, who saw the show on 22nd September at Ferial Juan Carlos I. Díez Díez interpreted six women’s and men’s outfits in a creative way and added a distinctive note to each and every piece. The colours of the various women’s and men’s outfits were black and white with the main styling element being button detailing. However, the show was not perceived as buttoned up - quite the contrary: the bad boy of the Spanish fashion scene transformed the Jockey outfits into unique products with a high erotic and aesthetic expressiveness.
This show projects the Jockey-Fan, Carlos Diez Diez, into the footprints of another international artist: Pop-Art-Icon Andy Warhol, who committed himself to Jockey for all his life and it is said that he gave inspirational strengths to the Y-Front brief. What worked with Warhol seems to work excellently with Díez Díez too – the partnership of cult and art was well received by the audience.
This is the second collaboration between Jockey and Díez Díez. Last year Díez Díez executed the fine detailing for different underwear styles at an underwear exhibition which was initiated by Jockey.
